Dr. Elkady shares that his work “address key fluid and production chemistry (FPC) challenges such as corrosion, scale formation, asphaltene deposition, and emulsion stability. My role includes designing and conducting laboratory studies ranging from geochemical analyses and high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) corrosion inhibitor testing to scale inhibitor evaluations and core-flooding experiments. In addition to these responsibilities, I also support Chevron New Energy (CNE)'s research on direct lithium extraction (DLE) from brines, contributing to Chevron’s efforts in advancing sustainable resource recovery.”

Dr. Elkady earned two degrees from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 2020 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2025. He shares that his time at Texas A&M instilled in him a strong foundation in rigorous scientific research, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration, “It also provided me with a deep appreciation for process safety. Equally important, the Aggie values of integrity, perseverance, and selfless service continue to shape the way I approach my work.”

Dr. Elkady also shared that he benefited from events and conferences organized by professional and student organizations, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the Chemical Engineering Graduate Student Association (CHEGSA), “I also actively supported workshops, conferences, and other events hosted by the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC). These experiences broadened my technical knowledge, exposed me to real-world industry challenges, and strengthened my skills in research communication, collaboration, and professional networking, all of which continue to shape my personal and professional development.”

To current graduate students, Dr. Elkady gives the advice to “embrace learning beyond the classroom, develop both technical and soft skills, and approach your work with curiosity, integrity, and selfless service—using your knowledge and growth to give back to your university and community.”
